About Wordhord

Hello! My name is Alice and I'm currently floundering in my early twenties. When I'm not having existential crises about what I'm doing with my life, I like to take photos and blog.

I graduated in 2012 with a MA in English Literature from St Andrews, having fallen a little bit in love with medieval everything. Mostly with this magical thing I had absolutely no experience of until my second year, when we had to do a compulsory junior honours module on Medieval and Renaissance Literature. Off I trotted to buy a copy of the set text for the first half of the module, which I opened up to find a completely different language. I hadn't seen Old English before. I just knew it was awesome.

It seemed like everyone else left the first lecture grumbling, but I was in love. Luckily, I had picked a good place to fall spontaneously in love with medieval literature.

Now, I'm a graduate. And... I don't have to think about Beowulf. Or courtly love. Or vikings.

But... I want to.

So, um, I'm going to! And -  I'm going to put it on the internet because there is no better motivation than feeling like you have a potential audience. Although, if there is an audience for 'enthusiastic medieval blog written by whimsical English graduate' remains to be seen.

Thank you, hypothetical reader, for getting this far!
